Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, the CEO of Binance, has denied rumors circulating on the Chinese messaging platform WeChat that he had been “shot” by the FBI. CZ took to Twitter on March 4th to address the false speculations and reiterated the close working relationship between Binance and the FBI. He also reminded his followers to ignore FUD, fake news, attacks, and other distractions.
If you sold on someone’s photoshopped fake image, then I feel sorry for you, but not really… 😂 https://t.co/pRfC2Jsqz5

CZ retweeted a user’s tweet that claimed he had been “biu-biued” by the FBI, referring to a text that stated he had been shot dead. The event was likened to a false rumor spread about Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin in 2017. A security analyst called it the “2023 adaptation of attempted market manipulation.”
In October 2022, Binance.US hired former FBI special agent BJ Kang to head up its investigation unit aimed at combating illegal activity on the platform.
